U.S. Army 330 Field Artillery Battalion, Neu Ulm, Germany, 1950 - 1954

In the wake of the Cold War buildup in Europe, a Texas National Guard unit was sent to Europe as the 330 Field Artillery Battalion stationed at Neu Ulm Germany. It was an 8 inch howitzer self propelled battalion having three firing batteries of four howitzers each with headquarters and service batteries included.

It was commanded in 1953 by Lt. Colonel Stubbs who was succeeded in 1954 by Lt. Colonel Haberer. Some of the battery commanders in the 1953 - 1954 time period were McCurdy and Cash. Firing exercises were conducted at Vilseck and Grafenwoehr in northeastern Bavaria, near the Czech border.
